The VELA Education Fund recognizes that this approach leaves many behind.
In our modern era, students are better-served through approaches that prioritize adaptability, creativity, and innovation.Creating new ways of approaching education around these values could unlock the unique gifts and talents of every child in our country.
VELA has distributed millions of dollars in small grants to thousands of everyday entrepreneurs offering innovative learning models within their communities.
Recipients share an entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to meet the needs of the learners and families they serve, and a willingness to stretch the canvas on the where, how, when of school.
“Success to us looks like an environment where innovators are accepted, where new approaches are welcomed, where there’s a willingness to experiment and get better,” says Meredith Olson, president of the VELA Education Fund.
